Pelindo and KSOP Cilacap Perform Heroic Actions to Evacuate Blackout Experienced Humanitarian and Cultural Mission Ship Arka Kinari

CILACAP, 30 July 2025 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Tanjung Intan Branch and the Cilacap Class II Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office carried out heroic actions to save the Humanitarian and Cultural mission ship Motor Yacht Arka Kinari which experienced engine blackout in the waters around buoy no. 5 Pelabuhan Tanjung Intan Cilacap, on Tuesday night, 29 July 2025. Due to the quick response and emergency response in this rescue action, the ship's passengers who were foreign and domestic citizens were successfully rescued.

The incident began when the Arka Kinari experienced engine trouble and lost power in the middle of the water. The team from KSOP Class II Cilacap received a report from the ship at 19.33 WIB and was immediately followed up through teleconference coordination between the leadership, KSOP and Pelindo Group Cilacap and related technical teams.

Responding to the emergency condition, Pelindo immediately assigned the tugboat KT. Jaya Negara 301 was immediately dispatched and managed to reach the location in a short time. After performing professional rescue manoeuvres, the tug took Arka Kinari in tow and evacuated her to the safety of the Tanjung Intan Port area.

As a result, all passengers and crew of the Arka Kinari were declared safe and in good condition. General Manager of Pelindo Regional 3 Tanjung Intan Cilacap Branch Miftah Fajrisal ST, MM, who is also Branch Manager of Subholding Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), ensures that port services are not only about operations, on the other hand as a state-owned BUP Pelindo also has preparedness in certain emergency conditions such as today.

"The speed and accuracy of the team's response in the field is the result of solid coordination and the readiness of our fleet in dealing with emergency situations. This is proof that Pelindo is not only reliable in terms of port operational services but also prioritises the humanitarian side like this in terms of service". He said

Meanwhile, Ridwan Chaniago, M.Mar.E, Head of KSOP Class II Cilacap, also expressed his appreciation for the responsive teamwork in providing assistance.

"We appreciate the speed and professionalism of the Pelindo team in handling this situation. Collaboration between agencies is very important to ensure shipping safety in the Cilacap area," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Gregory Todd Eifert Marine, a Spanish national who was the captain of the ship rescued by KSOP Cilacap and Pelindo, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all parties who helped save him and his team and evacuate his ship to a safe place.

Previously the foreign ship Arka Kinari sailed in Indonesian waters from the Port of Dili to Batam on a humanitarian and cultural mission, the ship which was skippered by a French citizen and several foreign and domestic crews on the way the ship experienced trouble in the engine when starting in Pacitan waters due to bad weather and blackout in the waters of Tanjung Intan Cilacap. Luckily the ship could be rescued by a joint team and evacuated to a safe location in Tanjung Sodong around the Port of Pelindo Tanjung Intan.
