Compact to Reduce Pollution, Pelindo and KLH Hold Emission Test at Tanjung Priok Port

Jakarta, July 15, 2025 - As a form of commitment to air pollution control, Pelindo supports the implementation of emission tests for Heavy Duty Vehicle-Truck vehicles operating in the Tanjung Priok Port area, Jakarta. This initiative is in line with the government's efforts to reduce air pollution in Jakarta, which mostly comes from heavy vehicle emissions.

This emission test is carried out within the Tanjung Priok Port operating area on category N vehicles (four-wheeled freight transportation or more) and category O (towing motor vehicles for trailer or outboard). This is the result of Pelindo's collaboration with the Ministry of Environment (MOE), DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Office, and a number of other relevant stakeholders.

Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said that the air quality index numbers in Jabodetabek, especially Jakarta, are increasing every year.

"N and O category vehicles are claimed to be contributors to poor air quality, especially in Jakarta. Today we are conducting emission tests on these category vehicles. Improving air quality will be the responsibility of various stakeholders," said Hanif.

Vehicles that pass the emission test will be given a certificate, while vehicles that do not pass the test will be given a warning letter to administrative sanctions as stated in the Minister of Transportation Regulation (Permenhub) Number PM 19 of 2021 concerning Periodic Testing of Motor Vehicles.

Pelindo Deputy President Director Hambra said that Pelindo strongly supports the implementation of the collaborative agenda of Category N and O Motor Vehicle Emission Testing in the Indonesian Port Area.

“Pelindo holds the principle of sustainability in line with the national target, Net Zero Emission, through various green initiatives on the port side including electrification of work tools at the Port and planting mangrove trees around the coastal areas supporting the Port to maintain good air quality,” said Hambra.

Pelindo's active participation in this emission test program confirms its commitment to be part of the solution to environmental problems, especially air pollution in the port area.

"We would like to thank you for the trust given to Pelindo to be part of a collaborative initiative that is highly relevant to our joint efforts in controlling air pollution.

to our joint efforts in controlling air pollution," Hambra concluded.
